What you'll do Position Overview: Lead the Company’s global approach to Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability including strategy development, execution of key programs, public reporting within CSR/ESG frameworks, and annual CSR Report. Establish Wendy’s as a leader committed to social, environmental, sustainability, philanthropic and economic issues. Priority subjects are informed by the Company’s ESG materiality assessment and include climate/energy/water; human rights; DE&I; animal welfare; food quality/safety; and sustainable sourcing, packaging and waste. Partner with other leaders in the organization to develop, oversee, direct and manage key aspects of Wendy’s CSR and ESG policies, programs, practices and goals. Build processes to identify, manage and respond to reputational risks and opportunities, especially in the system’s supply chain. Engage with external stakeholders, including leading NGOs, shareholder groups and CSR/ESG research and policy groups to represent the Company’s position and to inform the Company’s actions and strategies. Engage the franchise system to expand the Company’s activities and drive broader sustainability progress, especially where franchisee buy-in is critical to success. Working with the Corporate Communications team, externally communicate and report on CSR priorities, positions, goals, timelines and progress. Support continued implementation and expansion of the Wendy’s Supplier Code of Conduct. Work with relevant thought leaders and subject matter experts to establish brand opportunities and put in place a framework to establish strategic CSR leadership. Partner with the Chief Communications Officer to engage with and report to the Company’s CSR Committee of the Board of Directors on a bi-annual basis and as needed based on issue emergence. Key Responsibilities Establish, prioritize and align company leadership to CSR goals and drive progress against stated commitments through implementation of a multi-year, aspirational CSR strategy and plan. Lead process to track and report on progress against existing and new CSR/ESG goals, including through external reporting platforms such as CDP Establish external positioning on established goals and timelines and work directly and in collaboration with key stakeholders especially leading NGOs, trade associations, and coalitions. Partner with Corporate Communications to communicate externally on key goals and initiatives. Assess trends, emerging issues and serve as internal and external thought leader and subject matter expert to establish and maximize leadership and other opportunities. Develop and implement strategy to globalize Company’s CSR/ESG approach beyond North America Partner with Compliance to ensure continued implementation and global expansion of supplier code of conduct, and identify opportunities to expand, modify or improve.
