What you'll do

Overview 

The Director of Technology Quality Assurance (TQA) is a trusted expert within the Wendy’s IT team and will be tasked with transforming the current QA infrastructure and processes. This position is fully responsible for QA services for our Digital Applications, Restaurant Applications, and Point of Sale and enabling Wendy’s ability to move technology solutions to market rapidly and with minimal disruption. The Director of TQA will guide and develop multiple teams of QA professionals (16-20 resources) both centralized and distributed.  This role will work in a fast-paced, ever-changing, challenging, fun and entrepreneurial environment.

Specific Responsibilities Include

  • Develop strategy, roadmap and team design for Technology Quality Assurance organization in support of Wendy’s overall Technology strategy.
  • Partner with stakeholders from various technology & applications development or configuration teams, product management, and business operations management teams in ensuring that our technology & software meets the highest standards of quality before going into production using a continuous delivery model.
  • Directs team in the testing and quality assurance of solutions which ensures high system availability and maximizes usage of all Information Technology resources.
  • Directs team in development of in-house quality procedures, standards, and specifications, which provide adequate test coverage and quality assurance minimizing the impact on customer. Ensures timely delivery of new capabilities.
  • Directs team in development of processes for project management, test management, and defect management and systems. Generates management reports as required.
  • Directs team in the development of test automation ensuring optimal automation coverage and testing efficiency. Provides training opportunity for staff members as required.
  • Develops and utilizes change management standards and processes which ensures maximum customer service and enhances the productivity of staff members.
  • Solves complex issues for all systems implemented in the restaurant currently and in the future.
  • The expert for other IT staff members in the test management and coordination of critical restaurant solutions.

What we expect from you

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree: Business, Technology, Computer Science
  • 8 - 10+ years of experience implementing enterprise level solutions with a demonstrated track record of success; ideally within the restaurant/retail spacece, or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in restaurant technology, specifically, but not limited to: POS, OCD, DMB, Wi-Fi, Networking, Security (PCI), DMB, Headsets/Timers, Mobile/Web Solutions
  • Deep understanding of Digital solutions (Agile) such as custom Web and Mobile applications (iOS/Android) as well as the POS solution (Waterfall), and solutions that will/would integrate to them, such as: digital menu boards, y-lane, receipt printers, CC readers, etc.
  • Expert knowledge of information technology functions, processes, operations, configurations, project management methodology (Scrum or Kanban), systems testing and design
  • Exceptional communication and analytical skills.
  • Expert knowledge of Test management tools (PractiTest or similar), Defect Management tools (Jira or similar), Test Automation tools (Ruby/Cucumber), Testing Strategies (BDD and ATDD), QA Metrics and Reporting, and the overall Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Excellent multi-tasker and strong ability to effect change, influence, and collaborate both within a technical team and with external stakeholders. (Operations)
  • Management experience leading test automation development and implementing test strategies such as BDD or ATDD using tools and technologies such as Cucumber and Ruby
  • Experience in software development lifecycle (SDLC), waterfall and agile methodology and decision on when to apply which methodology.
